Walking around lunch at Alexandra Village and found a phone from long ago.
This phone is still working! Colleagues and I wonder how old they are, and concluded that it must have been 20 years old. Hmmm
Let the boring couple, KeropokMan and KopiKosongGirl show you around 'Boring' Singapore.

Safe Apron, Best Airport
Was walking into the airport terminal at Changi and I saw this. Safe Apron Best Terminal.
I was thinking of a different kind of apron! I just found out what an apron in an airport means. haha...
If you are wondering.. find your answer here.

13 pax
Look at this photo, and you won't think much. But if I am not wrong, only in Singapore that you can see 13 pax round sign on it.
In most countries I know, people are ferried around in buses. That's true for neighbouring Malaysia. But in Singapore, they pack them all at the back of the truck. I think this should be banned!

Play like the children!
Whenever there is a sprinkler with water sprouting out, you will find children playing with the water. And it's alway a sight that puts a smile on my face :-)
You can see this kiddo, checking out the place.
Here's another one, where the kid went right ahead to play!

How many flyovers in Singapore?
With the increasing congestion of traffic in Singapore, its no wonder there are countless flyovers in Singapore!
This shows 1 of the many that you are find in Singapore. This was taken on a off peak time, hence no cars. Quite a rare sight.
If you noticed at the bottom left corner, it shows you the speed limits of the flyover. This one is 70km/h - which during off-peak hours, its actually quite slow ;) I cant remember if there are other flyovers that have higher limits.
Anyone out there, living in Singapore knows how many flyovers we have?

Clarke Quay along Singapore River
This is an area where lots of tourists will visit for its restaurants and night life. For locals, its a place to meet friends to catch up. You can see the row of colourful shophouses, which has been repainted to give it a fresh and modern look.
This is taken together with part of the Singapore River.
Here's more information on what resturants are available: http://www.clarkequay.com.sg/index.htm

The Merchants of Singapore
Around Clark quay area, you will see a total of 9 stone sculptures, representing a family of merchants. This is to celebrate the lives of hard working people who with faith and dedication helped create a solid economy in Singapore.
Here's 2 of them.
This was realised by Michele Righetti under the commission of Far East Organization.

A beautiful bird - Peacock
Saw this at the airport and thought that it was a rather creative way of representing a peacock. Those are all beautiful flowers.
I am told that the peacock is the national bird of India. In a few days time, some people in Singapore will celebrate Deepavali - which is regarded as one of the most important festival of the Hindu calendar.
I nearly miss seeing this, but caught my eye when i saw the flowers! ;-)

Tangs Founder's Day
For those who are visiting Singapore today, Tangs, one of the big shopping centres will be closed. Its to commemorate their founder, Mr C.K. Tang. He is indeed, a home-grown retailer of Singapore.
Its quite meaningful for the management of this shopping centre to do this. For more on the history of the Tang family and Mr C.K Tang: http://timesofmylife.wordpress.com/2008/08/14/cktang-詩家董/

Changi Airport Control Tower
A trip to the airport, we will always never miss the airport control tower that stands tall on the eastern part of Singapore island.
Some fast facts about the Changi Airport
On a side note...
Here's a hearty congratulations to Keropokman's sister on her marriage! And wishing them a blessed life together :)

Heard from a colleague who heard from another ex-colleague that this building is to be officially opened these few days. Oh, we love to hear things from others!
What you see is only Part I. More to come... Build on tractors.. do your work! haha...
The tractor's working on the underground train I think.. :-)

Pink Ribbon
We saw a big crowd. Curiosity kicked in and we walk to the crowd.
We saw a group of ladies all in pink.
We saw a group of people all looking at the pink ladies.
Out came the camera and took 1 photo. LOL
We found out, they are from the Pink Ribbon Movement.

Dancing in the middle of the road
It sure was eye-catching.
We were waiting for the 'green man' to come on at the traffic lights. When the lights turn green, these few people walked to the middle of the road and started dancing, with music from the 'stereo'.
It caught many people's eye. Then at the side, a few people gave out brochures to those who looked curious. It was a marketing gimmick. haha..

The First Generation
This sculpture of kids jumping into the Singapore River is known as "First Generation". I think most people who have visited Singapore and have walked along the Singapore River near the Fullerton Hotel has taken a shot of this.
Look! someone's posing with the children ;-)
The sculpture is by Chong Fah Cheong. Want to find out more about his works? Visit: www.fahcheong.com

Lim Bo Seng Memorial
A memorial also at the Esplanade not too far from to the fountain posted yesterday.
Who is Lim Bo Seng? Read it here at wikipedia.
If you wanna strain your eyes, try this.
Not Botero's creation, but these rounded works looks a bit Botero?
I just found this link that's quite interesting for those who wants to read about Lim Bo Seng by his family.

Tan Kim Seng Fountain
This fountain that was built to commemorate Tan Kim Seng's contribution towards Singapore's first public waterworks.
One of the old plaques that has some description.
The National Heritage Board's version.
I think it's easiest to read from Wikipedia. That saves typing in all the description. :-)
Tan Kim Seng also has a road named after him, Kim Seng Road, which is where a popular shopping mall, Great World City is located.
