Please flag the bus early / Wheel chair accessible buses.

Took this photo yesterday afternoon while having lunch.

The buses in Singapore are starting to be wheel-chair accessible. Not all, but at least Service 147 is.

The Please flag the bus early sign is new too.

  1. In 1990 the U.S. passed a law mandating accessible services for people in wheelchairs or otherwise limited in their mobility. And still, 16 years later, there are many barriers in the U.S.

  2. The sign says 'Flag the bus early' ? Ok, I will. What time is best? 9am? S'poreans have such funny signs and slogans. When I was there a couple of weeks ago, I read on a van, "Where a man can enter, we can put a pile!"

    That's quite an image! :)

Evry was the 1st new city where all was done for the handicapped people. but much of installations badly aged. I had been surprised in New York, to see all the buses designed to receive people in armchair. Much work for France on this subject.
Cheer for this post, it is a very important subject.

  4. its really very nice of them that they pay attention to this field. It shows the integrity of a society if it takes care of disabled people in a way making possible to them to take part in the life of the community.

  11. Annie, Singapore is slowly doing it, at least it's starting. The train system is also starting to renovate to be more wheelchair friendly.

Edwin, there are even more Acronyms in Singapore! haha.. PIE, SLE, LTA, MOE, NUS, PTA, KJE, BKE, NTU, SMU, IDA, etc. How many do you everyone here know? I am sure you know what is KLDP. haha..

Olivier, Wow, Evry is so well planned. Every city should learn from Evry!!

Zsolt, yes, they are an important part of our society.

John, yup, a little thought goes a long long long way.

Koeiru, how long have you not been back?

Tr3nta, this one is one with the least. There are even more at other bus stops!

Kate, visit Singapore, and you have to flag too! haha..

Min, yes, everyone's in shock with the sudden increase in GST. It's ok Min, it's ok.... (to vent your anger here. haha)
