Look at this photo, and you won't think much. But if I am not wrong, only in Singapore that you can see 13 pax round sign on it.
In most countries I know, people are ferried around in buses. That's true for neighbouring Malaysia. But in Singapore, they pack them all at the back of the truck. I think this should be banned!
I agree it should be banned. Whenever I was driving home on the BKE towards Woodlands and I was behind a lorry packed w/people I was always afraid someone would fall out and I'd run them over...by accident of course. The fact is I've seen it happened and it is horrible.
ReplyDeletei agree with you on the point about banning it. The back offers no protection to the passengers at all!
ReplyDeleteBecos local employers seem to treat the lives of foreign workers generally with disdain.
ReplyDeleteThere was a time when lorries were not allowed to carry passengers especially kids at the back. But ever since the influx of foreign workers into Singapore, this rule has been conveniently swept under the carpet.

i saw a huge lorry ferrying construction workers to their working site here in my hometown Kuching some weeks ago. I didn't know that they are allowed to do that.. but i find the sight quite amusing.. to see at least 30 people sitting behind the lorry. pity i didn't have my camera then.
