Do you feel good when you see words in language you know?
Maybe that's why they have this multi language greeting to welcome people who arrive at the airport. The first 4 are the 4 national language of Singapore, the rest I am sure many reading this will instantly recognize it!

A short survey, how many languages can you speak? For me, I speak English, Chinese (Mandarin and the Hokkien dialect), Malay, and a few words of French. (too lazy to continue French classes)
English fluently, Spanish haltingly with a dictionary! I'm interested in how many North Americans speak more than one language. Not many I'd bet, unless they're immigrants. Your photo is very welcoming.
ReplyDeleteOne of the many things I loved about changi airport. I'm from the u.s., so sadly, I only speak english well. A few other dialects from Ethiopia but only enough to navigate the market and get/give directions.

I am impressed. I board already of the evil with French and English.
In France can of anybody speaks two languages, French has evil with the languages etrangeres.
If you count Arkansas as a language, I speak two. English is th other.

ReplyDeleteoh, I speak English, Malay, Cantonese and German. I sued to speak French when I was a child. Somehow it's all gone. I swear a lot too. Does that count as a language?
I can speak english, french, and tiny bits of german and japanese. I'm from canada and went to a french immersion school. I haven't been keeping it up very well so my french is getting worse and worse.
